Playstation 3

Well, yesterday, my wife and I were introduced to playstation 3. Wow! I didn't realize how well sony is keeping up with X-box and the Wii. It was really pretty neat. All the preferences and online material for direct download. Great stuff. My wife, who hates video games, even was taken by the playstation 3. So, it can be a good time. Just don't let your little kids play anything.

It paid off!!! 153 on the LSAT!!!!

Well, I guess my change of heart and being more confident in my abilities to take the LSAT paid off!!! I got a 153 on my simulated LSAT on saturday. That is my second best score ever. I am moving up and I will be able to get into a good law school. WIth 82 days remaining, I need to beef it up. But having come this far is great!!! I recall during our break some of the other students saying that this test was REALLY hard. However, I had felt the complete opposite, that it was going very well. I remember when I started studying the LSAT in May of 2007 that I felt the same feeling that they were. It is just a matter of time and MUCH practice. That is the key to the LSAT. Persistent preactice.

I AM SO EXCITED TO SEE THAT I HAVE IMPROVED AND AM IMPROVING!!!!

When the Going Gets Tough

Well, the going is tough for me. I am having kind of a rough time with studying and being diligent. It is really hard when you are studying a major that you are not very passionate about. I am graduating in April, but I am having a hard time getting through. Beyond that, I am planning on law school and the LSAT is rough. It is one of the hardest things that I have ever been a part of. ANd it determines so much. Currently, I have 86 days until the LSAT. Can I do it? Yes I can. Will I do it, yes I WILL!!! I will conquer this obstacle as I have conquered so many others. It starts now!!

My first external hard drive.

Well, after a lot of deliberation, I finally bit the bullet and bought an external hard drive. It is a VOX 500 GB External Hard Drive that will work interchangeably for MACS or PC's. So, that is awesome, even better is that fact that I found it for a total of $79.99 actual price. I got $10.00 off via Google Checkout, but also I have to send in 2 $15.00 rebates from the manufacturer. But for that price it would be pretty hard to find anything cheaper for that capactiy. True, it is not portable or anything, but for that price, who can complain?

Now I can finish our wedding video, because I will have space to spare. Also I will be able to make our Disneyland video.

Elder Scott's Talk at BYU Marriot Center

Elder Scott Devotional March 18, 2008 at BYU: These were my notes from the devotional.
Love for each of us and knows what we can accomplish in our lives. What we are capable of.
Message of Lasting Value to me. As if speaking to me individually
Many times you may feel overwhelmed with those around you.
My message that can help you now in your lives. 2 Parts: Scriptural Principles and then a more significant experience. I promise that as you seek to identify it , you will have a greater message. It will come from the spirit. That direction from the spirit is of the highest priority as to what you should remember.
There is SO much knowledge available to us via the scriptures, that the Lord’s Prophets have been given.
1. Alma 7:23 Humble, easily entreated, etc.
a. This is an extremely successful formula of success in this life.
i. Ye should be humble
1. Willing the apply the lessons that are learned.
2. An essential ingredient of strong character
ii. Be submissive and gentle
1. Stubbornness is a barrier to spiritual guidance.
2. We need to be gentle in our relationships (no harsh words)
iii. Easy to be entreatedBe willing to take counsel in any area of your life, and you will see that many problems that are unnecessary will be avoided.
i. Be Temperate in all things
1. Do not be excessive (Imp: Internet, Movies, whatever)
2. Do not be wishy washy
ii. Diligent in keeping commandments of God at all times.
1. Diligence=at all times. Diligence is not just a one time event, it is a process.
a. You cannot pick and choose commandments, you must be true to all the laws of the Lord.
iii. Ask for the things you stand in need of
b. BY FULFILLING THESE REQUIREMENTS, you will be better qualified to receive the Lord’s response.
c. BUT ALWAYS give thanks back to God
i. God is not pleased with those that do not recognize His hand in all things.
2. ***I PROMISE THAT IF YOU WILL FOLLOW THESE TEACHINGS< THEY WILL YIELD THE GREATEST LEARNING AND CAPACITY THAN ANY OTHER THING
3. IMP: Listen to my wife’s words to get me to be busy and to work and study hard. Then the LSAT is in my grasp. Stop work after the semester ends. Go forward.
4. IMP: WATCH CONFERENCE AND BECOME a HUNGERER AND THIRSTER AFTER RIGHTEOUSNESS.
5. IMP: READ THE SCRIPTURES MORE DILIGENTLY< SO THAT YOU ARE STUDYING THEM DAILY.RESOLVE TO EVER LIVE IN RIGHTEOUSNESS
1. LET THE ATONEMENT BECOME THE SURVE FOUNDATION UPON WHICH YOUR LIVE WILL BALANCE.
2. As the world grows more wicked, the base of the atonement in your life will hold you up and bring confidence in times of trials.
3. I invite you to create a personal plan that will allow you to establish that base of the atonement
a. Deep, personal pondering of the scriptures
b. Meaningful service.
c. Whatever path you follow, make it an undeviating goal to create a deep and abiding base of the atonement before leaving the University. You may think that it is impossible with everything else. I testify as an apostle, that your attaining that base in the atonement will enhance ALL of your skills of learning more than anything else. (IMP: I NEED TO IMPROVE. I CAN IMPROVE) Do those things that the Father and the Son will be proud of.
d. The Savior sensed an enormous sense of responsibility. (I Need to feel that also in order for me to improve and do better. I have a family waiting and leaning on me.)
e. In his absolute agony, he felt EVERY feeling from any transgression, even the most vile.
f. He had to stand up to the temptations of the adversary.
g. At the time that he most needed the Father, the Father had to back away. He had to do it completely alone.
h. God and the Savior live and they love us and they will make it so that you can be more obedient.

Cloverfield Review

Well, I saw the movie Cloverfield on Saturday. It was a lot different than I thought it was going to be. It was pretty violent, and more of a run and jump movie than a monster movie. You barely ever really get to see the monster. It's mostly just a repition of, "Oh no! There's the monster, run!" I did enjoy the organic feel of the camcorder thing. That made it more realistic, ' but the story and everything else really weren't the greatest. I won't be adding this movie to my collection, that is for sure.

Passageways to the Law Conference at the University of Utah

Well, yesterday, was a great day. I had the opportunity to go to the University of Utah to take a tour of their law school and I really liked it. The building is very quaint and the class sizes are small. The first year class only has 25 people in it, so it allows the group to get to know each other well and create an extended family feel to law school.

We had a mock law school class with professor Bill Richards. We had a great time debating a mock case that he had created.

The panel discussion was particularly helpful. It showed me how Law School is a stretching Experience in that you have a complete paradigm shift. The biggest suggestion that was put forth by the panel was to prepare for law school by becoming a better reader. That is to say in speed, comprehension, analysis, and internalization of concepts.

I felt so strongly that this is the right thing for me to do. I need to put forward my best effort right now--particularly in my LSAT prep, so that I can attend a good school such as BYU or the U. That desire is deep in me and now I must foster it.
